EQUIPMENT
In our work we use Windows and Macintosh OS computers equipped with state-of-the-art programs, fonts, and peripherals. Such competence is crucial for work with languages having many special letters and diacritics (such as Latvian, Lithuanian, and Russian), because notwithstanding the existence of the latest language converting programmes it is a sad fact that sometimes the Latvian or Lithuanian text printed in Estonia or Finland turns out to be shocking for Latvians and Lithuanians. A company working with an unfamiliar language that fails to consult with qualified text management professionals can, in more cases than not, expect the computer to produce some unexpected surprises. Already when our clients are ordering a job we recommend that they give serious thought to what they intend to do with the text once it is translated. This involves finding out about the types of computers, programs, and fonts that will be used by the printer, design bureau, or firm that will be working with the translated text.
